Headteacher’s Welcome
On behalf of the young people, staff and Governing Body, it is my pleasure to welcome you to Mill Green School.
Mill Green School is an Outstanding Community Special School in St Helens, where individuals aged 14 to 19 with complex, severe, profound and multiple learning difficulties are valued and supported to achieve the very best outcomes. Many of our young people have additional communication difficulties, sensory and physical impairments and/or complex health needs.
Mill Green is a school where individuals are valued and all staff and young people are challenged to give their best. Our young people are supported so that they leave Mill Green as confident, independent life-learners who are able to express themselves and their choices, are problem solvers and are able to contribute to the community in which they live and learn.
The dedicated staff team at Mill Green take a holistic, person-focussed approach to learning, offering an innovative and diverse curriculum to develop young people’s academic, social communication and independent life skills so that they are well prepared on their journey towards adulthood. We provide outstanding teaching and support in an inclusive, safe, secure and positive environment where every young person is celebrated for who they are and for their achievements. Part of our uniqueness is the creative curriculum which embeds links with the local and wider community, ensuring that our learners are able to have meaningful, real-life experiences to enrich their learning.
We work closely with colleagues in health and social care to provide integrated therapies throughout the school day and to support out work with families to ensure that all young people who attend Mill Green are able to reach their full potential in a safe and happy environment.
Mill Green is committed to strong partnership working with parents, carers and other members of the local community and strongly believe that when parents, carers and other community members are engaged in the education of our young people, it ensures exceptional learning opportunities and outstanding outcomes that best prepare our young people for the next phase of their lives.
I hope that by visiting our website, you feel well-informed and reassured but recognise that nothing can replace a visit; if you would like any further information or would like to visit the school, please contact us.
